Bookmaking

Motivated by a local International Women’s Day rally, I took some time to reflect on my path as an educator and artist. In March of 2003, I sat imagining my new granddaughter's arrival, I wondered what I would like to share with her from Women’s History Month. An empty artist book created in a workshop with Jacqueline Sullivan gave me a structure to share words and art images by women who helped me find my artist voice. I filled it with work done in workshops led by women about women artists. These online workshops from around the globe expanded my skills and enriched my spirit. The book, pictured below, informed a pitch I made for a bookmaking exhibit titled Inspired by Women: Bookmaking as Conversations.

Bookmaking as Conversation
The show opened in January of 2024, highlighting my collection of art work by contemporary women artists and over thirty books I made in the past years. These handmade books and works of art coalesced into six clusters: Color & Collage, Converge, Connect, Collide, Consider, and Collaborate. Here are a few books and the link to visit the show at the Madelon Power Gallery, East Stroudsburg University.
